Abstract

This article takes shape from the fruitfullness of the distinction of Susanne Langer’s philosophy (USA 1895-1985) around the possibility of a non discursive symbolism. Surpassing comunication as an enabler of sense, there are others non discursive forms that allow a significant symbolization; these are myth, dream, ritual and art. As an introduction, we study the non discursive symbolism as an open field of signification, where is possible to access to the expression and significance that go beyond discursive language. In this rescue, metaphor appears as an element rich and with epistemology projections. This article is aimed to demarcate the idea of a non discursive symbolism to widen the concept of mind present in current paradigms. As methodology, we present philosophical premises to construct an argument that makes non discursive symbolism valid with its appropriate legitimity and theorical derive.
